Langkawi is an island north west Malaysia, close to infamous Thai islands in the Andaman Sea such as Koh Lipe, is a district and archipelago of 99 islands, only 2 of which are habitable. Langkawi is rapidly increasing in tourism due to the diversity of the island and we believe it is suitable for everyone. The island has so much to offer from its picturesque paddy fields, UNESCO Geopark, incredible beaches, excellent diving spots, outstanding resorts and many tourist attractions.
We were lucky enough to spend some time at The Danna Langkawi, a 5 star resort surrounded by sandy beaches, beautiful mountains and unforgettable nature. One of our highlights of Langkawi was seeing hundreds of wild monkeys in the forests while driving to the resort from the port. It really is something special to see wildlife in its natural habitat!
We were so excited to be invited to enjoy the facilities that The Danna provides for its guests. The colonial, mediterranean inspired architecture has so much to offer with 125 rooms and suites with private balconies either facing the beach or the marina. Also there are 10 villas situated on Kok Beach each with a private pool.
Not only are the rooms amazing, there is the 3 tier infinity pool overlooking Kok Beach, with a children's pool and outdoor jacuzzi, The Danna Spa, The Danna Gym, Library, Billiard Room and a Games Room. You really could stay here for a month and not want to leave the resort! But you should, the Danna Langkawi is strategically located next to Telega Harbour and the Oriental Village where you can find The Langkawi SkyCab, the worlds steepest cable car and the Langkawi Sky Bridge, the worlds longest curve suspension bridge made with a single pylon! These are a must to tick off your bucket list even if you aren't the biggest fan of heights... the views are fantastic and so worth it!
Now for the best bit, our favourite places within the resort - the restaurants! 4 unique restaurants are within The Danna, each specialising in different options from bubbly breakfasts, to casual cafes serving local snacks, to afternoon tea and fine dining. Our favourite restaurant was The Terrace, overlooking the infinity pool and the Andaman Sea. We enjoyed the newly launched Traditional Sunday Brunch Roast which is served every Sunday. As we have now been travelling over 3 months, you can imagine how excited we were to have some familiar food... Especially a classic British roast which is a favourite of ours! Not only is it a roast which is the full works with different meats, different types of potatoes, vegetables, yorkshire puddings, everything you could ever want in a roast. But there is also soup of the day, selection of salads, breads, desserts and fruit platters. If this isn't enough, it's an unlimited buffet so yes...you can eat as much as you like, which we would say is music to everyone's ears, especially when you are dining in a 5 star resort! The quality of the food is incredible, with the freshest ingredients and delicious flavours, we are still dreaming about it all nearly a week later.
It continues to get better, you are able to add free flowing drinks which includes wines, beers, spirits, cocktails, fresh juices and other non alcoholic beverages, so even once you have finished your meal you can sit back relax and enjoy the views surrounding the restaurant, which is encouraged by all the staff! Who wouldn't want to sip on a mojito overlooking the Andaman sea?!
The Danna truly is a legacy of luxury and something we believe everyone should experience while In Langkawi. Even if it is not to stay, but just to enjoy their new Sunday Roast Brunch which is a unique but affordable way to enjoy 5 star luxury with incredible food and outstanding service.
A huge thank you to everyone at The Danna Langkawi for an unforgettable experience, we look forward to coming back soon!
